Amber got me hooked on Chloe Neill's "Chicagoland Vampire" series, darn her, and Ms. Neill says that her latest, Blade Bound ends the series.

Bah. I loved this series. Except it's not exactly the end. Just sort of.

See, in Blade Bound, a lot of the issues Merit has faced as well as the prophecy that Gabriel made about her and Ethan are all coming to a head. Obviously I don't want to say too much, but Merit is finally becoming the vampire she's supposed to be, and the city of Chicago will never be the same.

I enjoyed Blade Bound, and I love all the people in her books, not just Merit and Ethan, but Mallory and Catcher and Jeff and Gabriel and Malik and...well, just all of them. She's created a brilliant and intriguing world, and I want to spend more time in it. So I was a bit surprised at how rushed Blade Bound felt. All the people were there, the actions were critical, and there was a wedding. But it felt like she was in a hurry to get it done, and that saddened me.

However. Oh, however! I think she's anxious to get to the spin-off series, and honestly, I can't blame her. What she's set up promises to be exciting and completely different and I can't wait.

So yes, if you're reading the series, you absolutely CANNOT skip this book! It explains so very much, and it does leave all kinds of threads open for the spin-off series. Chloe Neill did that wonderful thing, finished a series and wound me up in excited anticipation of her next series. Wicked and brilliant, I tell you!

(Amber Here: I loved this book. I thought it was fun, just like the other installments. I cannot say that I felt this book was hurried – as I was in a hurry to find out what happened in the book! Even better this isn’t the last book being set in this reality – which makes me very happy!)

The thrilling final installment of Chloe Neill's New York Times bestselling urban fantasy series sees sinister sorcery advancing across Chicago, and it might usher in the fall of Cadogan House....

Since the night of her brutal attack and unwilling transformation into a vampire, Merit has stood as Sentinel and protector of Chicago's Cadogan House. She's saved the Windy City from the forces of darkness time and again with her liege and lover, Ethan Sullivan, by her side.
When the House is infiltrated and Merit is attacked by a vampire who seems to be under the sway of dark magic, Merit and Ethan realize the danger is closer than they could have imagined. As malign sorcery spreads throughout the city, Merit must go to war against supernatural powers beyond her comprehension. It is her last chance to save everything--and everyone--she loves.

About the Author

Chloe Neill, author of the Chicagoland Vampires novels (Midnight Marked, Dark Debt, Blood Games), the Dark Elite novels (Charmfall, Hexbound, Firespell), and the Devil's Isle novels (The Sight, The Veil), was born and raised in the South but now makes her home in the Midwest--just close enough to Cadogan House, St. Sophia's, and Devil's Isle to keep an eye on things. When not transcribing Merit's, Lily's, and Claire's adventures, she bakes, works, and scours the Internet for good recipes and great graphic design. Chloe also maintains her sanity by spending time with her boys--her favorite landscape photographer (her husband) and their dogs, Baxter and Scout. (Both she and the photographer understand the dogs are in charge.)
