Fran's 2012 Best List

Generally, of course, everyone comes up with a Top Ten Books of the Year list, but obviously I have never been one to follow the rules. Those of you who've been around for a while recognize this, and you shake your heads but you put up with me anyway. Thank you!

So this year, because (as usual) I've read a ton, I figured I'd give myself THREE Top Ten lists -- Local, Paperback and Hardback -- so I'd have a total of 30 slots. Greedy, yes, but remember, I read a lot, and I pinky-swear that these are not all the books I've read through the year; I actually muttered and scribbled and scratched off titles and rearranged things for weeks. And of course none of these deals with my non-mystery reading, which I do from time to time to clear my head.

So then. Turns out I didn't have a full 10 for Local and Paperback, so I not-so-cleverly shoved all my empty slots into the other Hardback section, and that raised an issue, but that's for the next post. Anyway, here are my Local and Paperback Best of Lists for 2013. These are in alphabetical order by author, since I can't actually rank them. I love them all.
